From Buzzing Neon to Stillness

Some places don’t grab you right away. They stay with you instead. Before the desert, our world was defined by the relentless hum of Las Vegas. We spent over two decades as pioneers of the downtown scene, building spaces for food, cocktails, connection, coffee, art, and performance.. places meant to foster community in the middle of a desert of a different kind. But even the most vibrant neon can’t compete with the West Texas sun.

The Discovery (2012–2016)

Our story in Marfa began in 2012. We’d heard the tales... the art, the light, the Judd of it all, but what we found was something harder to describe. It was in the air, the people, the silence, the sky. It was like a dream steeped in stillness, beauty, and quiet awe.

Marfa is a place where the surreal feels ordinary: sunsets that set the mountains ablaze, desert winds that whisper like old friends, the occasional wild javelinas trotting through town. It’s a landscape that bends time, where creative energy hums under the surface—in the galleries, down the alleyways, in the music drifting from open windows, in the people who arrive with ideas and leave with stories. After more soul-shifting visits in 2014, 2015, and 2016, the pull became impossible to ignore.

Planting Roots: Al Campo (2017)

In 2017, while still in the trenches of Las Vegas, we officially expanded the "pioneer" moniker beyond the city for the dream of soil on the high Texan plateau, planting roots with Al Campo, our little restaurant and wine garden. It was our love letter to Marfa, and it quickly became more than a place to eat. It became a gathering place, a heartbeat. That’s where the spirit of BOHEMIO first took hold and the vision became clear: a transition from the daily grind of hospitality to the lasting permanence of a sanctuary.

The Evolution: Rebel & Raconteur (2022–Present)

By 2022, that spirit was transformed from a home, restaurant, and wine garden into the renovated Rebel Lodge of BOHEMIO. It was the culmination of our years of design and hospitality, where the free-spirit meets desert modernism. In Fall 2024, the Raconteur Lodge joined the story: a dozen-year dream realized, a space both grounding and inspiring.

The Bohemio Experience

Today, BOHEMIO is a sanctuary. It’s a place to share wine under wide skies, bike through the stillness, and slow down enough to feel something real. Whether you’re seeking solitude, connection, or both, you’ll find warmth, style, and soul here.
